Playing Mario

First off, let me just say that a Red Wings playoff game is an experience not to be missed, even if they lose. :-) It was blinking awesome. Post-game, we wandered around downtown Detroit late at night.. we stopped by Cobo Joe’s, where they had a Flames jersey duct-taped to the floor as a door mat. Good stuff. Then we stopped by Lafayette Coney Island, which is like the best Coney ever. I worked about 2 blocks away when I worked for Ameritech, and never knew it was there. How sad.

Anyway, back to the title of the post. Check this out.

Go Wings!

Ah, some people have way too much time on their hands.

Back from Florida

Wednesday, April 7th, 2004

Well apparently it’s been too long since I last wrote because all my entries have disappeared off of the front page. I may need to look into that feature and change it a little. Anyway, Florida was quite cool. We stopped by an excellent resteraunt on the way to the house from the airport, and we drove the whole way with the windows down and the laptops running. :-)
From Monday night to Friday night, we programmed almost non-stop. I think we hit almost 85 hours of work by the time we left for dinner on Friday. Friday night through Sunday night consisted of a combination of programming and boating / jet skiing on the gulf (ie program morning, boat afternoon, program evening). We visited a couple of resteraunts only accessible by boat, and overall had quite a nice time relaxing. We also got to see a lot of dolphins up close at the mouth of the intercoastal as the tide changed, since they gather there to eat the fish.

More recently, I got to have another enjoyable experience (though I may be among the few to call it that). I spent a couple hours a few nights ago setting up routing and firewalling on my server to allow load balancing between the two T1s I now have connected to my machine. Being the big fan of Linux that I am, I quite enjoyed it.

In other news, I have continued to add to my growing collection of PA equipment. I think I may run away and become a poor degenerate musician, and just play guitar and play with the PA equipment for a living. It sounds like way more fun than working and stuff. Ahh, well, then I wouldn’t be able to pay for more PA equipment, so maybe that will have to wait until next year.
