Two tickets to the gun show

Saturday, July 31st, 2004

So Thursday was quite a cool day. Work started out normally, but then we went to Creekside for lunch and pretty much the whole gang joined, so it turned into one of the enjoyable long lunches that have been sadly missing from this summer so far. After a couple hours we headed back to work for the rest of the afternoon.

At 5:00 I headed over to the house to get changed into my pretty clothes so that we could go to the fund-raiser opening of the Father Gabriel Richard production of Les Miserables (involving an expensive ticket and black-tie dress). I got to hang out with a friend from middle school / college and her sisters (who are apparently Abbie’s adopted sisters, since their little sister and my little sister spend all their time together). Anyway, afterwards, since we were all dressed up, we busted out the camera and took pictures… way too much fun. You can see the results of that here.

After that I got to talk to Francine for a long time, which is always a pleasure. I am definitely looking forward to going down to visit her on Friday. It should be an awesome weekend, though I may be distracted to distraction at work all week. We shall see. Well, that’s all for now ladies and gentleman.

Doomed, I tell you, DOOMED!!!

Go for three!

Monday, July 12th, 2004

It’s Monday, so I’m posting.

Over.

And over

and over again.

That little voice on my shoulder (in this case with a voice REALLY resembling the voice of a certain person I know) keeps telling me I want to buy a motorcycle. The little voice on my other shoulder (my brain perhaps, I don’t know because I keep ignoring it) says I shouldn’t get one because I will kill myself when that 1/2 hour period of being cautious is over and I realize how bloody fast the things go. :-D Ah, well we shall see.

In other news, the weekend canoe trip was quite cool, and I got an upper-body workout like none other. It may take a day or two for the soreness to subside, but it’s a good sore… or something like that. Anyway, there was much splashage and tipping of canoes… (not my fault they flipped, honest.. I was just rocking their canoe to uh, sooth them, yeah, that’s it) and it was generally a good time. The weather was splendid also, which was a plus. I have had more fun on that river in the recent past with different company, but hey, not every outing is perfect. :-)
Well, back to work for now.. maybe I’ll post a couple more times in the next couple of hours, maybe not, but with the weather like it is, this is shaping up to be a splendid evening spent indoors playing games or something of the sort.

Favorite jokes of all time

How do you catch a unique rabbit?

Unique up on it!

How do you catch a tame rabbit?

Tame way, unique up on it.

How do crazy people go through the forest?

They take the psycho path.

How do you get holy water?

You boil the hell out of it.

Ben Stiller at his most very embarassing… probably more than even Meet The Parents.
Regardless, pretty dang funny.

So this movie critic stuff is quite easy.. maybe I need to shift careers or something. :-)

Happy 4th everyone :-) I had a delightful evening yesterday. I went over to Kelly & Jeff’s and we grilled salmon and vegetables and other such things on the grill. Then we chilled out on the deck, eating dinner and enjoying the view of the fireworks displays going on. We then went inside and attempted to watch The Rundown, (The Rock, Sean William Scott) but the burn of the movie didn’t work as well as anticipated.

It worked out pretty well in the end, because just as we were giving up Francine called, so I wandered off to talk to her for a couple hours, which is an excellent way to end any day. :-)
Now I sit, debating a nap or wandering off to a 4th of July party… ahh, to laze or not to laze, that is the question. I hope you all are having a splendid 4th. :)

I’ve found my calling in life

Friday, July 2nd, 2004

Yesterday my brother and I were sitting in the family room chilling and playing guitar when I looked out the back window and saw a couple deer chilling out in the back yard. So, on a whim, I decided to serinade them with some singing, so I grabbed the trusty guitar and wandered out through the screen door, where I proceded to play guitar and sing to the deer. Now having an animal look at you like you are crazy is an entirely different experience than having a human do it (I know this from experience) but the deer didn’t run, they stayed and listened. I think they liked my musical offerings.

Then I decided to make up a song… something to do with marinating and venison… they didn’t seem to like that one as much, because they ran away (I’m serious). Either I am a lousy song writer, or they just didn’t like the lyrics.

Either way, how many people do you know who have played live music for wild deer before, and had at least a semi-captive audience? Ah, it is the good life. :D
